A CNAME (or Canonical Name) allows you to point one domain or subdomain to another domain name. This means that you can update one A Record whenever you make a change, regardless of how many Host Records need to resolve to that IP address.

To add CNAME to your hosting provider, 1&1 IONOS, please follow these steps:

1. Log in to your 1&1 IONOS account here.

2. Navigate to the domains section of the account. Click on the gear symbol next to your custom domain and choose to manage subdomains.

3. Click on the option to Add record.

4. Choose CNAME from the list of records.

5. Enter the details for your new CNAME record, such as:

  • Host Name (enter "www");

  • Points to (cname.mysignature.io - exactly as written);

  • TTL/time to live (specify how long the data package will be stored in the memory. After this time, it will be removed from the memory to free up resources for other applications.)

6. Click the Save button and confirm the change on the next screen.

Note: Your changes are effective at IONOS immediately. However, due to the Domain Name System's decentralized structure, it can take up to an hour for the change to take effect everywhere.

You can also follow this detailed guide from 1&1 IONOS here.

If you've followed these steps and are still having trouble with your custom domain, please take a screenshot of your current DNS setup and the CNAME record setup and email it to our Support Team via live chat or at [email protected]. We will gladly help!
