A CNAME (or Canonical Name) allows you to point one domain or subdomain to another domain name. This means you can update one A Record whenever you make a change, regardless of how many Host Records need to resolve to that IP address.

To add CNAME to your hosting provider, Hostpapa, please follow these steps:

1. Log in to your HostPapa dashboard.

2. Select My cPanel from the navigation bar at the top of the page.

3. In the Domains section, select Zone Editor.

4. Locate the domain name you want to edit and select + CNAME Record.

5. Enter the valid zone name and fully qualified domain name:

  • Valid zone name: Your domain name (for example, 0000.james-grey.com)

  • IPv4 address: The IP address given by your website provider (for example, 192.158)

6. Click Add A CNAME Record.

7. After adding your CNAME, you can find the domain name you want to edit in the Zone Editor and click Manage.

8. Look for the DNS you want to update and click Edit.

9. Enter the details for your new CNAME record, such as:

  • Name (e.g., www);

  • Record (add cname.mysignature.io - exactly as written)

  • TTL/time to live (this field controls how long each record is valid and β€” as a result β€” how long it takes for record updates to reach your end users.).

10. Click Save Record.

You can also follow this detailed guide from Hostpapa on adding a CNAME here or changing a CNAME record here.

If you've followed these steps and are still having trouble with your custom domain, please take a screenshot of your current DNS setup and the CNAME record setup and email it to our Support Team via live chat or at [email protected]. We will gladly help!
